Though a group of big game hunters recently succeeded in taking down an elephant, it lost its excursion leader in the progress.

There are some who consider big game hunting to be a satisfying activity, but one recent outing didn’t go entirely as planned.
Though the group succeeded in taking down an elephant, it lost its excursion leader in the process. 51-year-old Theunis Botha was crushed to death by one of the animals on Friday, according to News24.
He and those with him were hunting at Zimbabwe’s Good Luck Farm near Hwange National Park when they happened upon a gathering of breeding elephants, reports The Telegraph.
The Independent notes that three elephants quickly charged them, and Botha responded by firing shots. While he was focused on doing so, another came at him from the side and picked him up with her trunk.
One of the hunters shot the animal, which resulted in her falling on Botha. Neither survived.
The elephant hunt was a departure for Botha, who typically organized groups eager to kill lions and leopards.
