Israeli Defense Forces (IDF) confiscated infrastructure equipment and took apart the Sumud Freedom Camp, an activist enclave established by Diaspora Jews, Palestinians and Israelis south of Hebron, late on Saturday, May 20.

Israeli media reports said approximately 80 activists were at the camp when soldiers arrived. Despite several intermittent scuffles, none were arrested or forcibly removed from the area.

Sumud, formerly known as the village of Sarurah, was opened on May 19 as the re-establishment of a village whose population had been forcibly expelled by the IDF in the 1980’s and 1990’s.
