A man was detained in Honolulu International Airport on May 19 after allegedly trying to break into the cockpit on an American Airlines flight from Los Angeles, the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) said.
Flight crew and an off-duty Honolulu police officer subdued the man, Hawaii News Now reported. The plane reportedly landed at Honolulu with a military escort, and the man was detained.
A DHS statement said Secretary of Homeland Security Charles Johnson had been briefed on the incident and “there are no other reports of disruptions to flights.”
