Venezuela’s defense ministry published footage on May 17 described as showing troops arriving in Tachira to “guarantee the peace of the region” following reports of widespread looting.

The country’s defense minister, Vladimir Padrino Lopez, reportedly told state media he was sending 2,000 guards and 600 special operations troops to Tachida.
