Anti-Erdogan Protesters Attacked Outside Turkish Embassy in Washington

At least nine people were injured in clashes during a protest against Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan’s visit to Washington on Tuesday, May 16.

A Metropolitan Police Department spokesman told The Hill that two people were arrested at the demonstration outside the Turkish ambassador’s residence.

Armenian and Kurdish groups had organized the demonstration to protest President Erdogan and his meeting with his American counterpart, Donald Trump, at the White House. Video from Voice of America Turkish shows men from a group holding Turkish flags charging into a small group of protesters who gathered around the Sheridan Circle.
