Fairfax Media, the Australian company that publishes The Sydney Morning Herald and The Age, said on Monday
that a consortium of investors had submitted a revised bid to buy the entire company.
Last week, the investor consortium made an unsolicited bid to buy Fairfax’s Domain Group, a real estate listings unit,
and the company’s metropolitan newspaper titles for about 2.2 billion Australian dollars.
The new proposal, from an investment consortium led by the private equity firm TPG
and the Ontario Teachers’ Pension Plan Board, valued Fairfax at 2.7 billion Australian dollars, or about $2 billion.
