SpaceX successfully launched a wireless broadband communications satellite into orbit on a Falcon 9 rocket on Monday, May 15.
This footage shows the launch, which occurred at the Kennedy Space Center in Florida, from nearby Cocoa Beach.
The Inmarsat-5 F4 is the fourth and final communications satellite sent into orbit to support the London-based Inmarsat company’s Global Xpress network, which delivers broadband service across the planet. The Inmarsat-5 F4 satellite weighed 13,380 pounds, nearly all of the Falcon 9 rocket’s full capacity, according to NASA Spaceflight.
