Iraqi forces made major advances and pushed deeper into the last Islamic State controlled areas in west Mosul on May 14, as the battle approached its endgame, Reuters reported.
The forces began storming the IS stronghold neighborhoods of Rabi, Rafai and Tamuz 17 in west Mosul, according to military sources.
Islamic State controlled only 9 percent of west Mosul including the Old City, where IS is expected to make its last stand, taking advantage of narrow streets and its dense population, army commanders told Reuters.
Iraqi forces also reportedly captured an IS outfit tailoring factory where Islamic State used to tailor their camouflage outfits, according to Iraqi news.
