About 2,200 Canadian forces have been deployed to flood-affected parts of Quebec, including Laval, as part of Operation LENTUS. Journalist Haders de J. Mercado surveyed the flooding and clean-up efforts on Monday, May 8.

The Canadian Armed Forces said in a statement that the flood relief efforts included sandbag distribution, traffic and evacuation assistance, general patrolling of infrastructure and citizens, and the protection of water treatment plants and bridges.

A Public Safety Canada press release stated: “More troops are now deployed for the operation in Quebec than the rest of all Canadian Armed Forces operations around the world combined.”
