Hundreds of Canadian soldiers helped those displaced by flooding in Quebec and Ontario communities on Monday, May 8. Laval, Quebec, was among the towns that declared a state of emergency because of the ongoing problems following heavy rain.
Soldiers were creating dyke barriers while filling sandbags with local emergency workers. The flood levels, though, were starting to stabilize on Monday with cresting of rivers expected east of Montreal by Wednesday, according to a report.
