First Love
That song takes me back in time.
So does that flickering flame.
Our first date was nothing like I dreamed.
I can still smell vanilla wax dripping.
Damn it.
We were doomed.
It wasn't meant to be.
The music too loud.
The lights too dim.
Fire and water.
It doesn't change anything.
Remember sneaking me into night clubs?
To show me off.
I made you proud.
You called me the hottest piece of ass around.
Those first times were better than I ever imagined.
Nothing changes those feelings.
Never could I have expected those feelings to be so intense.
Years have passed and I still feel that love.
You will never be mine.
You never were.
Always a free bird; that was you!
I couldn't share you.
All those feelings were new to me.
They were not new for you.
No, no, not to you.
They weren't new to you.
Only to me.
Those feelings you had already felt for someone else.
They weren't brand new for you.
They were never new.
They could never be new.
Doomed.
I met someone.
Someone who looks at me...
Looks at me like I looked at you.
Now I feel brand new with love that is true.
I have someone who loves me as I once loved you.
Though we are not each others first it feels brand new.
I will never hurt a heart like you hurt mine.
Stupidly, I never stop wishing you were here.
Wishing for what could have been.
I know you have felt what that kind of love is like.
Even though you didn't feel that love with me.
You will never know me,
and as your memories of me fade
just know I will never forget you.
I could never forget you.
Wishing we had never met.
Too much of our time now wasted and spent.
Thank you for the experiences.
Fuck you for the memories.
