Canadian Armed Forces Help Flood Relief Efforts Across Quebec

Around 1200 members of the Canadian Armed Forces (CAF) were dispatched to assist in flood defense and relief efforts across Quebec on Sunday, May 7. This footage from a CAF helicopter shows widespread flooding.

The province’s most populous city, Montreal, declared a state of emergency on Sunday after three dikes gave way in the Pierrefonds-Roxboro borough, according to the Toronto Star.

By Sunday, more than 140 municipalities across Quebec were considered flood zones, around 1900 homes were affected, and mandatory evacuation orders had been put in place for several areas, according to the CBC and The Toronto Star.
