Protesters chanted “shame” at Republican House of Representatives members as they climbed aboard buses headed for the White House to celebrate the passage of a bill “repealing and replacing” Obamacare on Thursday, May 4.
The bill passed on a 217-213 vote with no Democrats supporting the bill and 20 Republicans joining them. The bill heads to the US Senate next where many Republicans have already stated their concerns with the proposal.
US President Donald Trump tweeted before the vote that he intended to hold a press conference in the rose garden if the bill passed. Reporters also saw beer rolling through the building ahead of the vote.
After the vote, buses lined up outside the US Capitol to take Republican House members to the White House for Trump’s Rose Garden statement. Protesters gathered outside chanted “shame” as they boarded the buses, which can be seen in these videos from US Rep. Scott Peters of California.
