[POSSIBLE TRANSFER]
The Barcelona-born defender signed a new long-term deal in July 2015 and went on to firmly established himself as Arsenal’s first-choice right back, making 44 appearances in all competitions and creating nine goals - third only to Mesut Ozil and Alexis.
Arguably his standout performance of the campaign came in the Premier League north London derby at White Hart Lane, where he set up both of Arsenal’s goals. Other memorable moments included a superb interception, run and eventual assist late on in a Champions League win at home to Bayern Munich and a last-ditch recovery to deny Bafetimbi Gomis away at Swansea.
Hector scored his only goal of the season to help Arsenal beat Watford - with whom he spent time on loan during 2013/14 - and he was handed his international debut soon after, playing 90 minutes in a pre-Euro 2016 friendly against Bosnia and Herzegovina.
He was named in Spain’s squad for that tournament but did not play, with Vicente del Bosque’s side losing to Italy in the last 16. Having previously played for Barcelona, Hector joined Arsenal as a scholar in 2011 and impressed at youth level before making his first-team debut - in central midfield - as a substitute in a League Cup third-round tie against West Bromwich Albion in September 2014.
He broke into the first-team squad the following season, playing 28 times - including a start in the 2015 FA Cup final - and scoring his first professional goal against Aston Villa.
