The women’s finale at the Red Hook Criterium in Brooklyn got off to a rocky start on April 29, when one cyclist’s fall caused a huge pile-up involving about two dozen riders.
The 22-lap race featured 60 riders racing around a 1,130-meter track on fixed-gear bikes, with brakes prohibited for all competitors.
