Dhoni and Kohli entered into a verbal spat following inclusion of Ajinkya Rahane in the playing XI which eventually resulted in change of Virat's batting order during ODI against Sout Africa in Kanpur. As per reports Kohli, who enjoys batting at no. 3, wasn't happy with his demotion in batting order to accomodate Rahane. With top three - Rohit Sharma, Shikhar Dhawan and Virat Kohli - selecting themselves for the series opener at Green Park, Dhoni was opposed to bringing Rahane lower down the order. It was during the discussion over Kohli's batting order which ultimately led to a verbal spat between the captain and the vice captain. However, Dhoni denied to such rumours later in the day.
