President Trump slammed Democrats and Obamacare in a series of tweets Sunday morning.
His first tweet read, "The Democrats, without a leader, have become the party of obstruction. They are only interested in themselves and not in what's best for U.S."
Subsequently, he said, "You can't compare anything to ObamaCare because ObamaCare is dead. Dems want billions to go to Insurance Companies to bail out donors....New healthcare plan is on its way. Will have much lower premiums & deductibles while at the same time taking care of pre-existing conditions!"
Trump had largely blamed Democrats for the failure of the GOP health care bill in March when he noted, "We were very close, and it was a very, very tight margin. We had no Democrat support. We had no votes from the Democrats. They weren’t going to give us a single vote, so it's a very difficult thing to do."
Regardless, Trump and many Republicans are continuing their efforts to repeal and replace the Affordable Care Act or Obamacare.
However, based on an ABC News/Washington Post poll conducted between April 17 and 20, most Americans prefer they not do that.
61% of respondents expressed support for keeping and working to improve the health care plan in place, while only 37% indicated they’d like to see it gone. 79% said Trump should invest in the Affordable Care Act’s success rather than expend time and energy ensuring its failure.
