United Airlines and the passenger reach a settlement

United Airlines and the passenger violent removed from a Chicago flight have reached a settlement for an undisclosed sum, as the company seeks to limit the fallout from the incident that sparked outrage earlier this month.

Video of Dr David Dao being dragged down the aisle of the United flight, which had been overbooked, triggered public outcry over United’s treatment of passengers.

United also said that it would offer passengers who give up their seats 10,000 dollars, reduce overbooking and no longer call on police officers to remove passengers from their flights.

“I think that it may seem like an over-reaction now but United has shareholders that they’re responsible for and they need to repair their image.” – said Steve Pease, United Airlines passenger.

“It’s almost an absurd amount of money – said Christina Park, another United Airlines passenger. – It’s almost like you kind of hope you are bumped! (Laughs).”

United Airlines also took out a full page advert in the Washington Post to apologise for the violent removal of the doctor, hoping to turn the page on its latest PR disaster.
