A series of strikes hit areas near Damascus airport in the early hours of Thursday, April 27.
The Syrian State News Agency (SANA) cited a military source as saying that the strikes had targeted a military position near the airport, and that rockets had been fired from Israel. A fuel tanker and warehouses were damaged, SANA said.
In its report, Reuters cited Syrian rebel and intelligence sources as saying that the strikes had targeted an arms supply hub operated by the Lebanese group Hezbollah, where weapons sent from Iran were being stored.
Israel did not explicitly confirm the strike, but Intelligence Minister Israel Katz said it would have been “consistent” with Israel’s policy of preventing Iran’s supply of weapons to Hezbollah.
