A security robot in Silicon Valley is said to be doing well following an alleged assault by a drunk man, reports KGO.
The incident reportedly occurred on April 20 in Mountain View.
KGO notes that according to police, the victim, a 5-foot-tall, 300-pound security robot made by Knightscope, was patrolling a parking lot when 41-year-old Jason Sylvain allegedly approached it and knocked it over.
Stacy Dean Stephens, vice president of marketing and sales for Knightscope, told CNET, “The robot did exactly as it was suppose to do -- the 'assault' was detected and immediately reported. The alarms on the robot sounded, the suspect attempted to flee the scene and was detained by one of my colleagues and me until the Mountain View Police arrived."
Authorities arrested Sylvain, for “prowling and public intoxication.” It is not clear if the accused has legal representation.
The robot, which suffered a few scratches, has since returned to work.
