A dying oak tree where the first US president, George Washington, picnicked during the American Revolution was cut down on Monday, April 24.
The 600-year-old tree in Basking Ridge, New Jersey, would not withstand upcoming “harsh winters or spring storms,” said arborists, reported NBC New York.
It will take several days to remove the tree, but its 18-foot-wide stump will remain, local media. reported.
