More than 40 air raids and artillery strikes were reported by Syrian activists in the opposition-held Damascus suburb of al-Qaboun on Thursday, April 20. The air raids coincided with regime ground operations to capture the nearby al-Hussein Mosque.

Opposition media sources claimed that a number of local civilians were wounded in the aerial bombardment of al-Qaboun. However, Storyful could not independently confirm the casualty toll in the area. The al-Rahman Corps, one of the main rebel fighting factions in al-Qaboun, said that the April 20 clashes represent the most intensified scale of violence since the regime-launched offensive began in February 2017.
