DURAND (CUB), still only 20, dominated the T13 women's 100m to win in
12.00, a time only she has beaten. The Cuban flag bearer at the Opening
Ceremony improved on the Paralympic record of 12.10 she had set in
Wednesday's heat and there was a huge gap between herself and the
silver medallist Iise HAYES (RSA), who clocked 12.41. "I am very
satisfied with my result and I am now a double Paralympic champion (she
also won the T13 women's 400m) which is special for any athlete,
