Greetings citizens of the world,

The Japanese government is mulling over plans to evacuate 60,000 of its citizens from South Korea in the event of a North Korean strike or other military action, Reuters reported Friday.

The announcement comes amid concerns over recent missile tests and developments in North Korea’s nuclear program — including the possibility of a new nuclear test, CNN reports.

A Japanese official familiar with the discussions told Reuters that if South Korea agreed, the evacuation would involve military planes and ships as well as commercial airliners and ships.

In a Thursday meeting, Japan’s National Security Council also said that the island nation would have to deal with North Korean refugees in the event that the Kim regime collapses — including some that might be spies.

The plans come amid a fast-moving week in which the Trump administration put more pressure on China to deal with the North Korean problem and the fallout from a missile strike in Syria continued to raise questions on whether or not the Trump administration would militarily intervene in North Korea.

“At present, we are in close contact with the United States and South Korea and in addition to urging (the North) to refrain from provocative actions and observe relevant U.N. Security Council resolutions, we will take all necessary steps to protect our people’s lives and assets,” Japanese Chief Cabinet Secretary Yoshihide Suga said in a news conference Friday, Reuters reported.

Reuters also noted that the contingency plans have been in the works since February, after Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe met with President Trump.

It’s yet another sign of just how dangerous North Korea is. It’s time to deal with the Kim regime once and for all. The fact that we have to go through this every couple of years — when whichever one of the bloated, whiskey-racked descendants of Kim Il Sung is in charge decides he wants attention — is bad enough.
