A fire tore through the Grande-Synthe migrant camp near Dunkirk, northern France, late on Monday, April 10.
At least 10 people were injured in the blaze, according to France 24, quoting firefighters. The fire broke out just hours after several people were injured in a fight between migrants inside the camp, according to local newspaper Le Phare Dunkerquois.
The Grande-Synthe migrant camp, which was developed by Doctors Without Borders and the local government, was only opened in early 2016. French authorities in March announced plans to dismantle the Dunkirk camp “as soon as possible.”
