Five days after the suspected chemical attack in Khan Shaykhun, military jets targeted the the Idlib provincial town in a new set of air raids on April 9. Additional raids were carried out in the nearby town of Maarat al-Numan.
The airstrikes were carried out less than 48 hours after members of the Idlib Health Directorate collected soil samples from the site of the suspected April 4 chemical attack, which killed dozens of people and wounded hundreds more.
