Trees might not be as eco-friendly as we thought. New research from the University of Delaware shows that some tree trunks actually emit methane into the atmosphere, rather than absorbing methane gas. The amount of methane released depends on the species of tree. Methane is a greenhouse gas that’s much stronger than carbon dioxide – and both have a major effect on global warming.
