At Least 112 Dead, Hundreds Injured After Landslide in Mocoa

The National Fire Department of Colombia reported at at least 112 people have died and 190 people were injured in landslides and flooding in Mocoa, Colombia, on April 1.

The landslide was caused by the sudden rise of the Putumayo River, according to reports. Seventeen neighborhoods were destroyed, according to the National Unit for Disaster Risk Management of Colombia.

Colombian president Juan Manuel Santos departed to Mocoa on Saturday to coordinate the response to the tragedy. Hundreds are still missing, according to reports. Videos and photos show the army rescuing residents.
