Singer Noah Cyrus said she doesn't think she's in the shadow of her famous older sister, pop star and actress Miley Cyrus, as she launches her own solo music career.

"I don't really think I'm in that shadow...when you have a sibling or something there's going to be comparisons or there's going to be talk like about me to her, whatever. It comes with it," said 17-year old Cyrus in an interview with Reuters in London.

"I definitely look up to her [Miley] and I've always done...she's an older sister, so I've always looked up to her, like I do with Brandi, my other sister."

Cyrus, who is also the youngest child of country singer Billy Ray Cyrus, is joining the rest of her family in the world of showbusiness. She released her debut single "Make Me (Cry)" in November and her first album, entitled "NC-17", is scheduled to come out before the end of the year.

While "Make Me (Cry)" is a soft pop ballad about love and heart ache, Cyrus said her record will have a variety of song styles and even some swear words.

"There's a lot of different sounds throughout the album," she told Reuters.

"I mean there might be some bad words on there, I have to say there might be a few like F-words or something. But it's not racy I don't think."

Cyrus cited the likes of Bruno Mars, Rihanna, Fifth Harmony and Britney Spears as her favourite recording artists.
