The International Committee for the Red Cross has resorted to air dropping food supplies to isolated communities in South Sudan, according to a March 30 press release, saying conflict had made regualar deliveries by road impossible.

The ICRC said it was trying to raise $400 million to support drought-struck parts of South Sudan, Nigeria and Somalia as well as in Yemen. The UN has described the looming humanitarian crisis as the worst since the end of the Second World War, saying 20 million people face starvation.
