Property was damaged, roads obstructed and rivers inundated in the wake of Tropical Cyclone Debbie, a severe weather event that brought heavy rain and wild wind to northern Queensland on March 28.
A diving instructor at the Whitsundays was among those out assessing the damage on Wednesday, March 29, including a yacht pulled from its moorings and washed ashore by the force of the storm.
The cyclone caused destruction as it struck the northern coast of Queensland, lashing Ayr, Airlie Beach, Mackay, Hamilton Island and surrounding communities.
