Thieves broke into the Bode Museum in Germany and stole a 100kg gold coin worth millions of dollars. The thieves entered through a window around 3:30 a.m. on Monday and broke into the cabinet where the coin was displayed, according to the museum’s spokesperson. The coin, called “Big Maple Leaf,” is 999.99/1000 pure gold and has the portrait of Queen Elizabeth II on one side and maple leaves on the other. The coin has a face value of $1 million and could be worth almost $4.5 million at market prices. Police have not caught any suspects, but they have found a ladder by railway tracks nearby.
