How to fix GPS recording issues on Huawei phones

There are a few main causes for recording issues with Huawei phones as well as some other related phone models:

The phone's OS, the Strava App version, or the version of Google Play services is out of date. Check to make sure you're running the latest updates for your phone.
Battery saving apps are stopping the phone's GPS from functioning, which prevents Strava from recording your activity data. Turn battery saving settings to normal, and be sure to add Strava as a "protected app".
The phone's GPS loses the signal or the signal becomes weak and inaccurate, and Strava is unable to record your activity data. Try the AGPS-reset recommended in our help article.

"In the phone's energy settings, turn to normal and enable Strava as a protected app in he phone manager app" -Jurgen

"Solved for me: you not only have to protect the Strava app as described in this thread but also Google Apps (which I had to disable manually). With Google Apps not protected, the GPS fix is lost when not moving and the application does not detect and get a fix again when resuming the ride." -Serge

"Settings -- Apps --- Advanced (left corner at bottom of the screen) --- Ignore optimization (last option of the menu) --- Allowed --- All Apps (it will now show all the apps on the list) --- Strava --- Allow. Now the app will ignore every energy saver settings allowing me to track without any issue." - Paolo
