On March 17, an editorial in the Yucatan Times condemned U.S. spring breakers onboard a cruise ship traveling off the shore of Cancun, Mexico for reportedly chanting “build that wall.”
Spring breakers aren’t generally known for decorum and restraint, but, according to a Mexican news outlet, one group’s actions were especially jarring and unwelcome.
On March 17, an editorial in the Yucatan Times condemned U.S. spring breakers onboard a cruise ship traveling off the shore of Cancun, Mexico for reportedly chanting “build that wall.”
The publication noted that on March 13, when others on the ship expressed their unfavorable views of the act, the group just got louder.
The paper described the display as, “xenophobia and discrimination against Mexicans within their own country.”
It further noted, “This situation is far from being an isolated incident, and it adds to the growing number of complaints from tourism sector workers, who point out that in recent days many Spring Breakers have been offensive, rude and haughty towards Mexican people.”
As such, some have said they’d welcome Trump’s wall if it would keep those U.S. travelers out, notes the San Diego Union-Tribune.
