A student-produced rocket just shattered a major record.The USC Rocket Propulsion Lab launched the Fathom II in New Mexico. The craft reached a whopping altitude of 144,000 feet; that’s the highest altitude ever reached by an entirely student-made rocket. USC says the Fathom II took three months to develop and manufacture.The lab is part of an undergraduate program that designs and tests rockets.
