FBI Director James Comey confirmed publicly for the first time Monday that the bureau is investigating Russia’s interference in the 2016 presidential election, including possible “links” between Trump campaign associates and Moscow.
The FBI director disclosed the investigation, parts of which have been the subject of news reports for months, at a House intelligence committee hearing Monday morning. He noted while the FBI normally would not confirm ongoing investigations, he could make an exception for such “unusual” circumstances.
