[HD 1080p] On April 14, new, for honoring the 155th anniversary of Pony Express arrived in California, Google releases a playable 2D side-scrolling interactive doodle. \r
\r
Played as an express rider riding from California, players start with one mail letter and can to collect more (up to a total of 100) along the way and deliver them to Missouri. \r
\r
Different obstacles are set on the road and need to be avoided.\r
\r
The Pony Express was a mail service delivering messages, newspapers, mail, and small packages from St. Joseph, Missouri, across the Great Plains, over the Rocky Mountains and the Sierra \r
Nevada to Sacramento, California, by horseback, using a series of relay stations. \r
\r
During its 18 months of operation, it reduced the time for messages to travel between the Atlantic and Pacific coasts to about 10 days.\r
\r
From April 3, 1860, to October 1861, it became the Wests most direct means of east–west communication before the telegraph was established and was vital for tying the new state of California with the rest of the United States.\r
\r
The Pony Express was a mail-delivery system of the Leavenworth and Pikes Peak Express Company of 1859, which in 1860 became the Central Overland California and Pikes Peak Express Company. \r
\r
This firm was founded by William H. Russell, Alexander Majors, and William B. Waddell all of whom were notable in the freighting business.\r
\r
The first Westbound Pony Express trip left St. Joseph on April 3, 1860 and arrived ten days \r
\r
later in San Francisco, California, on April 14 at 1:00 a.m.\r
\r
These letters were sent under cover from the East to St. Joseph, and never directly entered the U.S. mail system. \r
\r
To this day there is only a single letter known to exist from the inaugural westbound trip from St. Joseph, Missouri to San Francisco, California.\r
