Steve Perry, the president of USA Gymnastics, has resigned following pressure on the organization as a result of multiple sexual abuse allegations. Last week, the U.S. Olympic Committee recommended to USA Gymnastics chairman Paul Parilla that Perry step down. Perry originally joined the organization in 1999 and oversaw a period of great prosperity for them, drawing in more sponsors every Olympic cycle. The organization has been criticized heavily for the treatment of athletes, with many complaining that they cared more about money and the coaches reputation than the athletes themselves.
