Intruder faces 10-year sentence for jumping White House fence

A man carrying a backpack jumped over the White House fence steps away from the presidential compound before being arrested on Friday. The suspect, identified as Jonathan Tuan-Anh Tran, 26, was charged with entering a restricted area while carrying a "dangerous weapon." Tran now faces a maximum of 10 years in prison for intruding, Bill Miller said, a spokesman for the U.S. Attorney's office. According to a Secret Service official, Tran did not have any weapons in his possession, but was carrying pepper spray with him. Tran also had a letter with him, addressed to President Trump, in which he mentioned "Russian hackers."
