The millions of electronic gadgets and devices that will utilize the Internet of Things (IoT) phenomenon may one day suggest us at a glimpse all we need to know i.e. the thought which is generated into our mind, will be answered next to it using its own IoT way. The IoT is all about connecting devices or things to the Internet in such a way that each device can communicate on demand. Devices or smart appliance which are directly connected to the Internet must use an IP suite to be able to exchange data with other remote devices and servers over the Internet. However, devices in a local network loop can use non-IP protocols to communicate within the local area network. Connectivity to the Internet of non-IP devices can be made available via an Internet gateway. The gateway communicates with local devices using a non-IP method on one hand, and with other devices on the Internet using IP on the other hand. The gateway in this situation is an application layer gateway as it needs to decode & strip down the data coming in from the local area network and reconstitute it with a TCP/IP protocol to enable communication with an Internet service. The advantage of using the IP in devices is that it permits the gateway to be application agnostic and enables flexibility & feasibility to modify or add applications to the devices without changing anything on the gateway.
Internet of Things technology is a consolidate base for phenomena such as “smart cities”, and “smart homes,” where electricity driven equipment, lights & appliances can be remotely managed using embedded software and operated via their connections to the internet. In these IoT networks, sensors play a vital role & multiple sensors provide data on weather, temperature, humidity, doors status whether open or closed , unlocked cars, and even when lights are on or off.
