Have no fear, Russia will not be banning audiences from seeing "Beauty and the Beast" for having a gay character, though they did slap a 16 and up age restriction on it. Russia recently caused a minor incident in the entertainment world when Russian media outlet, Ria Novosti, reported that some lawmakers were discussing banning "Beauty and the Beast" from Russian theaters. Vitaly Milonov, one of those lawmakers, wrote a letter to Russia's culture minister, Vladimir Medinsky, asking for the film to be banned in Russia because the film is "gay propaganda." The film made waves last week after the director, Bill Condon, announced that Le Fou, Gaston's right hand man played by Josh Gad, is gay.
