The Georgia Archives building along Atlanta’s Capitol Avenue was demolished in a controlled implosion on Sunday, March 5.

More than 500 pounds of explosives reduced the 55,000-ton structure, occasionally known as the “White Ice Cube,” to rubble, WSBTV and FOX 5 Atlanta reported.

Georgia Governor Nathan Deal and Devon Simmons, a 5-year-old sickle-cell anemia patient at Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta, pulled the plunger, setting off the implosion.
