On Monday, White House press secretary Sean Spicer commented on President Trump's wiretapping claim.
White House press secretary Sean Spicer was asked by reporters on Monday regarding President Trump’s assertions of being wiretapped by former President Obama.
Spicer said, in part, “There's no question that something happened. The question is it, is it surveillance, is it a wiretap or whatever? There has been enough reporting that strongly suggesting something occurred."
Specific sources of such reports were not provided, but it is believed Trump’s Saturday tweets alleging that Barack Obama tapped his phones are rooted in a story published by Breitbart.
Trump had tweeted, "Terrible! Just found out that Obama had my 'wires tapped' in Trump Tower just before the victory. Nothing found. This is McCarthyism!"
The White House has since called for a Congressional investigation on the matter, notes The Guardian.
During the Monday press gathering, Spicer noted that the administration might not accept a conclusion it deems problematic.
