President Trump posted another tweet on Saturday taking aim at the mainstream media.
President Trump is continuing his attack on the press.
On Saturday morning, he tweeted, “Don't believe the main stream (fake news) media. The White House is running VERY WELL. I inherited a MESS and am in the process of fixing it.”
The previous day, he posted a message which read, “The FAKE NEWS media (failing @nytimes, @NBCNews, @ABC, @CBS, @CNN) is not my enemy, it is the enemy of the American People!”
The tweets followed a press conference the president held on Thursday where he said, in part, “I’m making this presentation directly to the American people, with the media present, which is an honor to have you. This morning, because many of our nation’s reporters and folks will not tell you the truth, and will not treat the wonderful people of our country with the respect that they deserve.”
Trump added, “Unfortunately, much of the media in Washington, D.C., along with New York, Los Angeles in particular, speaks not for the people, but for the special interests and for those profiting off a very, very obviously broken system.”
According to Business Insider, while journalists like CNN’s Jake Tapper and Fox News’ Shepard Smith criticized the briefing for being “unhinged” and not strong enough on Russia, some supporters have spoken out in praise of Trump's assertive remarks.
