Nighty Night! - The bedtime story app for children

Nighty Night HD is a short, nearly wordless interactive book about going to bed. Kids get to tap the rooms of the house (or barn) that still have lights on, and then, once theyve entered that room, they get to turn off the light and put the animals to sleep. Theres not much of a story and the few words are only spoken, not written, so parents shouldnt expect this to be a reading app. It does however, have nice cause-and-effect lessons for toddlers (and will be just plain fun for preschoolers and kindergartners) and is accompanied by soothing going-to-sleep music.\r

NIGHTY NIGHT HD has strikingly beautiful graphics, especially in its lighting effects. And toddlers will love having control over bedtime for the animals. They know they must eventually turn off the light in each room, and that when they do, the animal will go to sleep, but until then, they can keep tapping the animal to play with it for as long as they want. Once kids have given in to the temptation to turn off the light in a room (and it is quite tempting), they can try to wake the animal, but it wont work. The animals may blink or stir, but they wont get up again. Lesson: Lights out means sleeping - period. It would have been nice to have the storys few words spelled out on the page for kids to read (rather than just spoken by the narrator), but you need to think of this more as an interactive version of a babys board book than an older kids picture book.\r

NIGHTY NIGHT can be a great part of a bedtime ritual for toddlers/preschoolers who need positive reinforcement about what it means to go to bed (lights out equals sleep and sleep is a lovely thing). The narrator has a beautiful comforting voice and the story line is repetitive which helps it become a soothing and sleepy.
