Dozens of people took part in a protest in the Parisian suburb of Aulnay-sous-Bois on February 6, following the reported beating of a young man by four police officers several days earlier. The man, named in reports as Theo, was hospitalized after the incident and had to undergo an operation for an anal tear and a perforated colon,. The injuries reportedly occurred when the man was sodomized with a baton. Three of the officers were indicted for violence following the incident, and the fourth faced a charge of rape. Theo was quoted in reports as saying the incident began after the officers asked him to stand against a wall. ?I stand against the wall, quietly, and then one of the policemen comes and beats me,? he said. Le Parisien filmed an interview with a witness at the scene of the incident on February 4. The video includes amateur footage purporting to show police beating and detaining Theo. The witness then points to bloodstains and scuff marks on walls next to where the beating reportedly took place. At the time of writing, all four police officers had been suspended from service.
