Mandy Patinkin will return to Broadway for one night, Monday May 19th, to help raise funds for the Classic Stage Company, which is celebrating its 40th anniversary. Patinkin is a renaissance man who has worked in theatre (Evita), film (Yentl), television (Chicago Hope), as well as a recording artist.
The new musical Pure Country is set to make its world premiere in the Spring of 2009. Based on the 1992 Warner Brothers' film of the same name, Pure Country is a musical about a country singer's quest for the love he only knows in song. Pure Country features music by Steve Dorff, lyrics by John Bettis and a book by Pete Masterson and Rex McGee (based on McGee's screenplay).
One of Broadway's best actors could be going Hollywood. According to the Hollywood Reporter, Raul Esparza is in talks to play a crazy stalker, killer in horror movie guru Wes Craven's upcoming film, tentatively titled, 25/8.
The writing team behind Glory Days started working together in high school, which wasn't that long ago for Nick Blaemire and James Gardiner, who are 23 and 24 respectively. Since pairing up a few years ago, the duo has had alot of success. Gardiner published Glory Days the novel, while Blaemire had a role in Cry Baby. Glory Days opens at Circle in the Square, May 6th.
