Super Mario 64 Hat Duplication on Real Hardware (SM64 Secrets 006 Followup)

2017-01-30 3

After making Super Mario 64 Secrets 006, I got the idea to show how much the framerate drops on a real Nintendo 64 when duplicating Mario's hat. As Super Mario 64 runs at 30 frames per second (fps) on real hardware (N64) and 60 fps in Project64 (if your PC can handle it), I figured that hat duplication would have a bigger impact on the framerate on real hardware.

Do note that I didn't use any cheat codes in this video and that 118 star count is my own, personal star count with an original N64 controller and no cheating devices. I can't be the only one who couldn't get the 100-coin stars for Tick Tock Clock and Rainbow Ride.

This video was not upscaled to 720p and was left at 640x480 which Super Mario 64's native resolution.
