Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg has expressed his concerns about President Trump's recent executive orders relating to immigration.
As promised prior to the election, Donald Trump has made immigration one of his focus areas since being sworn in as president.
CNET notes, "In Trump's first week in the White House, he's signed executive orders to push forward his plans for a wall along the US border with Mexico, withhold federal funding from sanctuary cities and block refugees from nations like Iran, Iraq, Libya and Syria."
Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg is speaking out against Trump's immigration policies in an online post on Friday.
He starts with talking about his family history as well that of his wife, Priscilla Chan.
Zuckerberg notes, "My great grandparents came from Germany, Austria and Poland. Priscilla's parents were refugees from China and Vietnam."
Sharing that he's "concerned about the impact of the recent executive orders signed by President Trump," Zuckerberg adds, "We need to keep this country safe, but we should do that by focusing on people who actually pose a threat. Expanding the focus of law enforcement beyond people who are real threats would make all Americans less safe by diverting resources, while millions of undocumented folks who don't pose a threat will live in fear of deportation."
He also advocates for a welcoming approach to refugees noting that otherwise his wife Priscilla wouldn't be in the U.S. today.
However, Zuckerberg does applaud Trump's comments about continuing to being open to "people of great talent coming into the country."
He also cites the president's remarks about working "something out" for Dreamers.
