As far as I know, the TIE Lancer is another fan creation added to XwA by Darksaber's Craft Pack. It's cumbersome, like the TIE Gunship, with even less firepower. I think the gimmick with this ship is that it looks a little like the Enterprise from Star Trek. I do like the design of the ship, and it's fun to fly in 3rd person, but unless you link lasers and ions and take a ton of evasive action, it's not as competitive as an unshielded TIE Interceptor in a dogfight.
